What Is Chkdsk Command & When to Use it?

Computer users may sometimes get a notice from Windows to run Chkdsk command to fix problem. Here comes several questions:

  • What is Chkdsk command?
  • What problem does it fix?
  • When to use Chkdsk command?

What is Chkdsk command?

Chkdsk is a command in Windows to bring up the process of examining disk space and disk use for the file allocation table (FAT) and NTFS file systems. Chkdsk provides information specific to each file system in a status report. The status report shows errors found in the file system. If you run chkdsk without the /f command-line option on an active partition, it might report spurious errors because it cannot lock the drive. You should use chkdsk occasionally on each disk to check for errors.

What problem does it fix?

Chkdsk find errors in your disk by checking the disk use and space. After that, it fixes the disk errors automatically. The errors including partition errors in hard drive, system not being able to recognize disk, empty disk suddenly being fully occupied, etc.

When to use Chkdsk command?

Normally, Windows will remind you to run chkdsk command when any disk error is causing problems.  Some programmes also has remind function when the software is detecting disk error thaat prevents it from installing or running.

Apart from these notices, users can also run Chkdsk to check disk regularly to avoid errors. Checking disk can help reduce the space that is occupied, and defrag the disk. Running disk checking regularly can keep the hard drive healthy and clean, and fix errors promptly.

There is only one disadvantage of Chkdsk command. It has to be run in a dos window. For beginners, this is relatively difficult because they don’t even know how to bring up the command window. I will suggest junior users check their disk and system with a system optimizer. It has all function of error cleaning as well as disk fixing and defragging. More over, it is so easy to use. For the best system optimizer, you can view this page for more information.

In such case, the html(htt) file that stores the setting is corrupted and a new file needs to be stored. Active Desktop automatically creates the HTT file when the old one is renamed or deleted and the desktop is refreshed.

When the Active Desktop Restore happens, you will find a button on desktop. Click it to restore the desktop, it will always works. If not, there are several solutions that may solve the problem:

How to Solve JavaScript Error On Internet Explorer

JavaScript is a programme language that determines how a website works with internet; it helps to display all the visual effects, animations and other webpage functions. Without it, the website will not be fully functional and some pictures or videos may not be visible. However, you may receive a JavaScript error when you browse some WebPages, which is caused by not valid entries from the website.

It is quite annoying to receive this error, but luckily we have solutions for it. You will find it quite easy to solve a JavaScript error.

First step: Disable script debug of your internet explorer:

 * 1   Open and run your Internet Explorer browser by clicking on its desktop icon.

* 2   Click the “Tools” option, which is located on the top menu bar. Click “Internet Options” in the drop-down menu.

 * 3   Select the “Advanced” tab in the “Internet Options” dialog box.

* 4   Browse the “Settings” list. Remove the check from the option box entitled, “Disable Script Debugging.” Also, remove the check from the option box entitled, “Display a notification about every script error.”

 * 5   Click “Apply,” located at the bottom of the dialog box.

 * 6   Click “OK” and close the “Internet Options” dialog box.

Second Step: Download a different browser.

This will correct the issue most of the time, especially if the first step has not corrected it yet. You can download Firefox or Safari on the official websites of the developer. Launch the new browser and try to connect back to the desired website. It should load without any issues

Third Step: load the webpage on another computer

You can also try another computer and see if the error still occurs. If yes, then the website may have some programme and cannot be viewed at the moment. You will have to wait till the web holder solves the problem on his side.

JavaScript error may possibly be caused by corrupted registry file as well. Since registry is a part of system that controls the operation of all programmes, if there is corrupted registry, the system may have JavaScript errors, as well as computer slowdown and system crash. If you are an expert on registry, you may find the errors and fix the problem manually, but if you are not familiar with registry, I won’t suggest you do this by yourself, as improper handle of registry may result in serious system problem.
